IS THIS JM’S OFFICIAL WEBSITE? |
No, this site is run and operated by a severely McNaughtized reader. Judith does have an official website however! See below.
DOES JM HAVE AN OFFICIAL WEBSITE? |
Yes! You can find Judith’s official site at JudithMcNaught.com. Judith is also on Facebook at Judith McNaught Author.
WHAT IS JM’S EMAIL ADDRESS? |
Now really, if JM gave that out, she’d never get her next book finished. 😉
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE OLD JMBB? |
Almost daily, I get questions asking what happened to the Simon & Schuster and Random House Judith McNaught message boards. Sadly, they’ve been removed from the publishers’ websites. Because of that, it is often difficult to find out any new and exciting news relevant to JM fans. In the meantime, fans are having to make do.
In the meantime, should you have any juicy bits of JM gossip, or a question you’re dying to know the answer to, please Contact Me.
WILL THERE BE ANY FILM ADAPTATIONS OF JM’S BOOKS? |
At this time, there doesn’t seem to be any plans for a JM book to be brought to the big screen–or any screen for that matter.
Judith has mentioned in the past that several of her books have been optioned. An option simply means that the party who has the book optioned has the exclusive right to make the book into a film for a set period of time. During this period, no one else can make the book into a film.
Before you get too excited, however, Judith also said that thus far, none were being put into production. She went on to say that it “happens all the time to authors, and we learn not to get too excited when producers buy options on our work.”
I SIGNED UP FOR JM’s NEWSLETTER AND NEVER RECEIVED ONE. WHAT HAPPENED? |
Chances are, your request wasn’t lost in the mail. Nor was it stolen by your JM fanatic mailman, or sent to a crabby neighbor by mistake, so please give up the idea of offering a reward.
The reason you haven’t gotten one is because, quite simply, Judith hasn’t mailed one. The newsletter is no longer advertised in the current printings of her books, so it is safe to assume the newsletter is a thing of the past.
ARE ALL OF JM’s BOOKS AVAILABLE IN HARDCOVER? |
Yes, between book club editions, large print copies, and JM’s later releases, all have been printed in hard cover at one time or another. You may have to search harder to find some than others, though. Try eBay, ABEbooks, Amazon’s used offerings, and other used bookstores online.
WILL JM EVER WRITE ANOTHER HISTORICAL? |
That is a question many fans seem to be asking these days. The last time we asked, Judith made the following VERY encouraging comment:
I’m getting an almost forgotten little “itch,” one that I haven’t felt for a long, long time, but it’s getting serious. It’s so serious that I mentioned it to Linda Marrow a couple of weeks ago after we finished discussing EBYT. I thought the itch was history. And it is. It’s an itch to write an historical again–specifically, to tackle what was once called WATER’S EDGE and never finished.
We’ll see. BUT if I do it, it will not be called WATER’S EDGE. I’m tired of that title.
Kind of exciting, really, but so is the new book.
Kind of exciting?!? Isn’t that an understatement! So you see, dear historical fans, all hope is not lost.
WILL JM EVER WRITE ABOUT CLAY AND WHITNEY’s (or another couple’s) CHILDREN? |
In response to this question, Judith has said:
…It’s highly unlikely. (My answer would be that because I make it a habit to never say never.)
For one thing, I don’t want to write about Clay and Whitney with gray hair. A spin off that takes place at about the same time as the original novel, is okay with me–i.e., UNTIL YOU.
I just don’t like sequels; I’ve never read one that was the equal to the original.
When I leave a couple at the end of an historical novel, they’re in a wonderful place. I took them there; I made the trip with them–and it’s never an easy trip. And then I told them goodbye. I want them to live on in my memory as they were.
There’s one more problem with sequels to regency historicals, and that is that the regency period marked the end of the glamorous, elegant, free-wheeling ways of the English aristrocracy. Clayton and Whitney’s children would never have known a life like their parents enjoyed.
