|Riddle me this, Batman… HOW have I never heard of Joanna Shupe? This book was fantastic. For those who have read Meagan McKinney’s Lions & Lace and loved it, imagine Lions & Lace on steroids…That’s Magnate.
No matter how much I dislike the hero’s name, there is simply no denying: The man is HOT. Do you know how JM Heroes are a cut above pretty much every other hero ever written? For instance, in mythological terms, JM Heroes would reign on Mt. Olympus whilst other heroes would remain mere mortals. Okay, yes, Rhett Butler could probably hold his own up there. And Roarke from the In Death series could possibly hang in there too. But let’s face it…as a general rule, JM Heroes set the bar. WELL. I don’t say this often, but I *do* think that if the hero of this book went to a party on Mt. Olympus, he would mingle very well with the JM Hero Gods. He is just that hot. (Or so I thought. I could have been in a Gilded-Age-Induced-Fever.)
The heroine, Elizabeth, was pretty awesome, too. It’s always gratifying when a hot hero is not completely wasted on some pale, pathetic shadow of a heroine. (#ThingsIWillNeverUnderstand…)
In addition to great characters, this book offers tons of angst. La! I loved, loved, loved this book. You of course, may completely disagree. If you read it, let me know what you think! xoxoxo
